eldritch horrors 6f18e1ebde libstore: remove FileTransferRequest
it's just a uri and some headers now. those can be function arguments
with no loss of clarity. *actual* additional arguments, for example a
TLS context with additional certificates, could be added on a new and
improved FileTransfer class that carries not just a backend reference
but some real, visible context for its transfers. curl not being very
multi-threading-friendly when using multi handles will make sharing a
bit hard anyway once we drop the single global download worker thread

Alois Wohlschlager 4dbbd721eb treewide: consistently mark overridden settings as such
Only overridden settings are sent to the daemon, and we're going to do the same
for the build hook to. It needs to be ensured that overridden settings are in
fact consistently marked as such, so that they actually get sent.

Puck Meerburg 37b22dae04 Fix passing custom CA files into the builtin:fetchurl sandbox
Without this, verifying TLS certificates would fail on macOS, as well
as any system that doesn't have a certificate file at /etc/ssl/certs/ca-certificates.crt,
which includes e.g. Fedora.

Eelco DolstraandJade Lovelace c1631b0a39 [security] builtin:fetchurl: Enable TLS verification
This is better for privacy and to avoid leaking netrc credentials in a
MITM attack, but also the assumption that we check the hash no longer
holds in some cases (in particular for impure derivations).

Jade LovelaceandRebecca Turner 04f8a14833 tree-wide: shuffle headers around for about 30s compile time
This didn't really feel so worth it afterwards, but I did untangle a
bunch of stuff that should not have been tangled.

The general gist of this change is that variant bullshit was causing a
bunch of compile time, and it seems like the only way to deal with
variant induced compile time is to keep variant types out of headers.
Explicit template instantiation seems to do nothing for them.

I also seem to have gotten some back-end time improvement from
explicitly instantiating regex, but I don't know why. There is no
corresponding front-end time improvement from it: regex is still at the
top of the sinners list.

Jade Lovelace 61e21b2557 Delete hasPrefix and hasSuffix from the codebase
These now have equivalents in the standard lib in C++20. This change was
performed with a custom clang-tidy check which I will submit later.
Executed like so:

ninja -C build && run-clang-tidy -checks='-*,nix-*' -load=build/libnix-clang-tidy.so -p .. -fix ../tests | tee -a clang-tidy-result

Matthew Bauer 641c950701 Add hashed-mirrors back
Some users have their own hashed-mirrors setup, that is used to mirror
things in addition to what’s available on tarballs.nixos.org. Although
this should be feasable to do with a Binary Cache, it’s not always
easy, since you have to remember what "name" each of the tarballs has.
Continuing to support hashed-mirrors is cheap, so it’s best to leave
support in Nix. Note that NIX_HASHED_MIRRORS is also supported in
Nixpkgs through fetchurl.nix.

Note that this excludes tarballs.nixos.org from the default, as in
\#3689. All of these are available on cache.nixos.org.

Eelco Dolstra bbe97dff8b Make the Store API more type-safe
Most functions now take a StorePath argument rather than a Path (which
is just an alias for std::string). The StorePath constructor ensures
that the path is syntactically correct (i.e. it looks like
<store-dir>/<base32-hash>-<name>). Similarly, functions like
buildPaths() now take a StorePathWithOutputs, rather than abusing Path
by adding a '!<outputs>' suffix.

Note that the StorePath type is implemented in Rust. This involves
some hackery to allow Rust values to be used directly in C++, via a
helper type whose destructor calls the Rust type's drop()
function. The main issue is the dynamic nature of C++ move semantics:
after we have moved a Rust value, we should not call the drop function
on the original value. So when we move a value, we set the original
value to bitwise zero, and the destructor only calls drop() if the
value is not bitwise zero. This should be sufficient for most types.

Also lots of minor cleanups to the C++ API to make it more modern
(e.g. using std::optional and std::string_view in some places).

This didn't work anymore since decompression was only done in the

Also fixed a bug in bzip2 API handling (we have to handle BZ_RUN_OK
rather than BZ_OK), which we didn't notice because there was a missing
'throw':

  if (ret != BZ_OK)
      CompressionError("error while compressing bzip2 file");
