Maximilian Bosch 114bc770e3 doc: remove ignoreSelfRefs from docs
While working on the LocalDerivationGoal code, I realized that this
attribute is only set to `false`/`true` depending on whether
`__structuredAttrs` is `true`/`false`.

helleandjade f659a1e638 Fix various links to anchors in documentation.
These are updates to several links in the documentation that are not
currently pointing to existing anchors in the documentation, these were
found using the unfinished version of the mdbook-linkchecker we are
working on.

Fixes include pointing them to the correct anchor, inserting anchors (in
updated html5 style, though debatable) and in the case of the historical
release notes, removing them, fixing #809.

eldritch horrorsandjade b0d7a81613 fix tooling after include reorganization
clangd broke because it can't look through symlinks. compile_commands
manipulation does not fix it, clangd configuration does not fix it, a
vfs overlay does not fix it, and while a combination of those can fix
it with a bind mount in place that's just too cursed to even consider

Alois Wohlschlager c1746300a9 libexpr: generate builtins from data
Most builtins are now generated from data too, with two exceptions:
* Undocumented builtins, since supporting them would add complexity to the
generator, the harms of the current implementation mostly don't apply, and
the proper fix is to document them.
* `derivation` is somewhat magic (it is a function, but defined in the code as
a constant), so the current treatment of having it separately documented is
  kept (for now, at least).
Since it is slightly easier to do and probably a good idea anyway, the builtin
function registrations generated this way are now processed directly in code
and don't go through global variables any more.
Unfortunately, a slight breaking change is introduced because the order of the
builtins' names in the symbol table changes. Hopefully, this will turn out to
not matter in practice.

Alois Wohlschlager beb231784e doc/manual: clarify documentation related to the $$ parser bug
Due to a mistake in the grammar, a dollar character implicitly escapes a second
dollar character that immediately follows, so that it cannot start an
interpolation. Unfortunately, this behaviour has since come to be relied upon,
so it cannot be fixed. Furthermore, the documentation on regular strings did
not mention this behaviour at all, while in the case of indented strings it was
rather implicit.
Mention it explicitly in both cases, and describe how an interpolation can
follow a dollar character (namely, by escaping that). Since we have to touch
that section anyway, state that any character (other than n, r, and t; but
notably including `$` even if not succeeded by `{`) can be escaped using a
backslash in regular strings.

Jade Lovelace 748d8310fa Fix the pages in the manual for Lix
This doesn't comprehensively fix everything outdated in the manual, or
make the manual greatly better, but it does note down where at least
jade noticed it was wrong, and it does fix all the instances of
referencing Nix to conform to the style guide to the best of our
ability.

A lot of things have been commented out for being wrong, and there are
three types of FIXME introduced:

- FIXME(Lix): generically Lix needs to fix it
- FIXME(Qyriad): re https://git.lix.systems/lix-project/lix/issues/215
- FIXME(meson): docs got outdated by meson changes and need rewriting

I did fix a bunch of it that I could, but there could certainly be
mistakes and this is definitely just an incremental improvement.

eldritch horrors 725f5cd358 docs: redo content generation for mdbook and manual
manpages can be rendered using the markdown output of mdbook, the rest
of the manual can generated out of the main doc/manual source tree. we
still use lowdown to actually render manpages instead of eg mdbook-man
because lowdown does generate reasonably good manpages (though that is
also somewhat debatable, but they're a lot better than mdbook-man).

doing this not only lets us drastically simplify the lowdown pipeline,
but also remove all custom {{#include}} handling since now mdbook does
all of it, even for the manpage builds. even the lowdown wrapper isn't
entirely necessary because lowdown can take all wrapper arguments with
command line flags rather than bits of input file content.

This also implements running mdbook in Meson, in order to generate the
manpages. The mdbook outputs are also installed in the usual location.

Alexander BantyevandValentin Gagarin 36b059748d Split nix-env and nix-store documentation per-subcommand
Documentation on "classic" commands with many sub-commands are
notoriously hard to discover due to lack of overview and anchor links.
Additionally the information on common options and environment variables
is not accessible offline in man pages, and therefore often overlooked
by readers.

With this change, each sub-command of nix-store and nix-env gets its
own page in the manual (listed in the table of contents), and each own
man page.

Also, man pages for each subcommand now (again) list common options
and environment variables. While this makes each page quite long and
some common parameters don't apply, this should still make it easier
to navigate as that additional information was not accessible on the
command line at all.

It is now possible to run 'nix-store --<subcommand> --help` to display
help pages for the given subcommand.
