Eelco Dolstra ac0e24f21b Revert "Bump version to 3.0"

This reverts commit 189e6f5e1d.

After some discussion, it seems better not to bump the major version
number since most of the new features since 2.3 are marked
experimental.

Nix

Nix is a powerful package manager for Linux and other Unix systems that makes package management reliable and reproducible. Please refer to the Nix manual for more details.

Installation

On Linux and macOS the easiest way to install Nix is to run the following shell command (as a user other than root):

$ curl -L https://nixos.org/nix/install | sh
